about

I've had the chorus for this for ages but only wrote the rest of the song around it for the sake of this EP. I thought it was the weakest on the EP until it was recorded and Piper mixed it and now it's probably my favourite.

It's about how I feel in danger of becoming one of those people who struggle to progress in life because they consider their early 20s a golden period that can never be bettered. Maybe it is. Who knows.

Mk isn't Milton Keynes.

lyrics

Dressed up in grey for the day
A war fought in an alien’s body
I’ve a pocket full of opportunities they’re burning through my briefs
But speaking more than pointless pleasantries will char me to debris
But now

Now I find myself in my private hell
Eating smart, drinking clean, kinda living well

But do you remember when we used to love to feel loved
Put space between our moods and thoughts
Keep to keen, before routine
It’s obvious
If you looked. We weren't hooked
With the Earth below and stars above
Shots on screens distort those dreams that all of us
Used to trust

Past glories becoming a tale
The golden age didn’t raise a smile
I’m a wandering troubadour without the back to sleep on floors
And now the act of fighting back can grant the chance to clip our claws and how
But now

Now I find myself in my private hell
Working hard, ditching meat, kinda living well

Dress up, dismayed for the day
A war fought through the plot I embody
I’ve a pocket full of opportunities they’re burning through my briefs
But speaking more than pointless pleasantries will char me to debris hurray
Anyway, these days we never failed
It’s in the filling of our lungs and the chips of our nails
I’ve collapsing stars in the core of my heart
And if I think that we’d survived we could’ve gone far
Right?
